YUVAIRA guide
How to design a role-relevant pre-hire assessment
A useful pre-hire assessment measures real work, uses clear criteria and avoids generic questions that add no decision value.
Start with the real responsibilities of the role, not a generic question bank. A customer-service assessment can test how a candidate handles a difficult interaction. A data role can use a short dataset and ask for a concise conclusion. Before publishing, define what strong analytics looks like, how answers will be reviewed, and how language or reasonable-adjustment requests will be handled. Candidates applying for the same role should receive consistent timing and criteria. Do not treat one test score as the whole decision. Combine it with CV, interview and human analytics, and review the questions regularly to confirm that they still reflect the work.
