One-way video interview vs AI video interview: what is actually different?

The practical difference between fixed recorded video answers and a structured AI-assisted interview workflow.

Редакция YUVAIRA

The term one-way video interview usually describes a fixed asynchronous flow: a question appears, the candidate records an answer, and then moves to the next question. Its main operational benefit is removing the need to schedule a live first-round call.\n\nAI video interview can describe several different product designs, so the label alone is not enough. Some systems use AI to generate or adapt questions, organise transcripts and reports, or connect answers with CV and role context. What matters most is what the hiring team can actually inspect and review.\n\nWhen comparing products, ask whether questions are role relevant, whether candidates understand the process, whether recruiters can revisit answers or transcripts, whether criteria are consistent, whether humans can challenge or override system outputs, and whether the product relies on sensitive or opaque signals that are unnecessary for the role.\n\nThe decision should not be between marketing terms. Choose the workflow that collects the analytics you need with the least unnecessary friction while preserving a clear candidate experience and accountable human review.

Are all AI video interviews adaptive?

No. Products use AI in different ways. Employers should evaluate the actual workflow, evidence and controls rather than relying on the label.
