Hire more recruiters or automate screening? A capacity decision guide
How to decide whether your company needs more recruiting headcount or a better way to automate repetitive first-round screening.
When candidate volume rises, the natural reaction is to consider hiring another recruiter or HR team member. Sometimes that is exactly the right decision, especially when the company needs deeper stakeholder partnership, workforce planning, more live interviewing, candidate relationship work or recruiting strategy.\n\nBefore adding headcount, separate work that needs human judgment from repetitive work. Scheduling, sending links, repeating the same first-round questions, consolidating notes and organising analytics can consume substantial recruiter time without being the best use of recruiting expertise.\n\nMeasure the hours first. How many candidates enter first-round screening each month? How many recruiter minutes are spent on each early call or manual review? How much of that work could become a structured candidate journey that a human reviews afterward?\n\nIf the bottleneck is stakeholder management, hiring strategy, negotiation, candidate relationships or final interviews, automation will not fix an understaffed team. If the bottleneck is repetitive work before the human interview, the right tool may reduce pressure before additional hiring becomes necessary.\n\nThe useful framing is not HR versus AI. It is task allocation: technology handles repeatable workflow steps, while HR spends more time on judgment, communication and decisions that genuinely need people.

Questions sur ce guide
Can AI screening replace an HR team?
No. Screening automation can reduce repetitive workload, but HR and hiring teams are still needed for strategy, judgment, communication, governance and final decisions.
